First off, I would like to say thank you for reading. Horror is something I fell in love with at a young age and I’m honored and privileged that CryptTeaze has let me share my thoughts with you in a professional setting. This is something I have been wanting to do for quite awhile now, so again, thank you and enjoy.

Let me be the first to say that I have not been a fan of the original film for very long, as I’ve only recently really dove into Italian horror over the past couple years. My first viewing of Dario Argento’s Suspiria was at The Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor, MI where there was a special screening in a 35mm format. I was blown away. The color, the way the music made you sit on the edge of your seat while the hair on the back of your neck stood on end, I fell in love. I knew I was watching something special. So, my first rational thought when I heard it was getting a remake, I wasn’t too thrilled regardless of how many remakes I’ve actually enjoyed. Until I saw the trailer.
I went into it completely blind. I had no idea on the casting because I wanted it to be a surprise. We have Jessica Harper who played Suzy Bannion in the original movie, supporting our new lead actress, Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades Trilogy), along with Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange, The Chronicles of Narnia), Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness), and Chloë Grace Moretz (Carrie, Let Me In). This all-star cast has me excited and anxious at the same time. The refreshed logo itself is another thing I’m loving about the movie, the way it’s portrayed in the trailer helps keep the tension. With this new fresh take on the film, it feels aesthetically different from the original, but the tone remains the same. With Thom Yorke composing the score, it’s going to help bring this new take on a classic to life.
Suspiria is scheduled to be in theaters November 2, 2018.
