Shout! Factory TV and Twitch Celebrate 40 Years Of 'Piranha' With "Piranhathon"

Just when you thought it was safe to take a dip in the water again… This summer at Lost River Resort, the fish are most certainly biting! Shout! Factory TV will partner with social video platform Twitch to host a 24-hour marathon of Joe Dante’s cult classic Piranha on August 3rd in celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary. Fans can watch the film streamed all day and night long, in a presentation complete with behind-the-scenes footage, bloopers, outtakes and The Making of Piranha, which features interviews with Roger Corman, Joe Dante and many more. The marathon begins Friday, August 3rd at 6 p.m. PT on Shout! Factory’s official Twitch channel.

Piranha is a 1978 American satirical B horror film directed and co-edited by Joe Dante, and starring Bradford Dillman, Heather Menzies, Kevin McCarthy, Keenan Wynn, Barbara Steele and Dick Miller. The film tells the story of a river being infested by lethal, genetically altered piranha fish, threatening the lives of the local inhabitants and the visitors to a nearby summer resort.

Produced by Roger Corman, Piranha was one of a series of low-budget B movies inspired by the film Jaws (1975), which had been a major success for Universal Studios and director Steven Spielberg.
