In a town not known for its horror, or any films not involving drunken escapades or casino crimes, Drew (Marvick) and his crew have curated a diverse collection of films for the enjoyment of a community of passionate individuals.
First, many festivals are filled with conflicts and little time to get everyone's desires accomplished, not Sin City Horror. All of the films are in one theater spaced out well enough to accommodate breaks and a few moments to chat with other attendees as well as those involved with the dozens of films featured this weekend.
I first want to commend the quality and diversity of the film's. The first day included subgenres ranging from Chinese Zombie flick, Lost in Apocalypse, childhood boogeyman, Like Old Times, and documentary, Survival of the Film Freaks. To top off the night, a screening of the original Halloween was scheduled precisely to release right before the hosting theater's showing of the most recent release of Halloween. All of these really deserve their own recognition for their character and contribution.
Though the attendance was light as the day got started, things got into swing as the showings progressed. The Brenden Theater of the Palms Casino resort serves as a comfortable venue with comfortable reclining chairs seating a wonderful audience ranging from directors, organizers, local business owners and journalists, and just your average horror junkies.
Sin City Horror carefully picked this diverse line up of films to provide something for any horror fan, and I applaud their efforts. Day 2 is about to start and a full day of horror is upon us, including 3 full films and a block of several shorts. As the Halloween season gets into full swing, it's time to get spooky with the October traditions. Grab the popcorn and bring on the horror!
