Ghost's Cardinal Copia Could Possibly Do Two Album Cycles

Ghost Cardinal Copia Two Album Cycle

Ghost’s Director recently sat down with Australian podcast The Music to chat about the fate of the current frontman of Ghost, Cardinal Copia.

“I have a vague idea of what’s in store. It’s gonna change over the years, to whatever extent we’ll be around," the Director rold the podcast. "Right now, if everything goes according to plan, we’re hoping for Cardi to be strong enough and cool enough to possibly do something that none of the previous ones have done, and that’s basically to do two cycles.”

He continued, “Which I just find interesting, because each of the other ones you’ve sort of met when they’ve already accomplished their thing — they’re already accomplished; there’s no story — whereas this time around he’s presented very al dente; a little bit of chewing resistance. Not even I liked him to begin with. But now I can’t wait to see him hopefully accomplish these things and I really look forward to possibly seeing him in the skull paint and real papal attire.”

Ghost’s trifecta of Papa albums each featured a unique Papa Emeritus in the bloodline. It does make sense if we see Cardinal later on as a Papa, that he could and would get an album as Papa as well.

Due to an extensive world touring schedule closing out 2019, new music is postponed until 2020. Ghost shared this in an interview with Loudwire back in December.

What are your theories on the theme and mystery around Cardinal Copia and the next album cycle? Are you ready for Papa Copia?

Ghost's newest studio album Prequelle (read our review) is now available at most major music retailers.
