[Review] 'Boar' Gores A Place For Itself In The Creature Feature Genre

Chris Sun Boar Shudder Review

Though beautiful, the Australian outback becomes a bloody battleground where the fight for survival is unrelenting against a wild boar the size of a Mini Cooper. And now, one family must do whatever it takes to escape the horror that lurks at every corner. Will they be successful in their attempt at survival or fall victim to the tusks of the wild boar?

Written and directed by Chris Sun (Charlie's Farm) comes this perfectly structured creature feature. Boar plays successfully due to strong showings by not only the cast but the crew as well. The film stars Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects), John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), Nathan Jones (Mad Max: Fury Road), Simone Buchanan (Hey Dad), Melissa Tkautz (All Saints), Hugh Sheridan (Isn't It Romantic) and many more that make quality contributions to the film.

Chris Sun Boar Shudder Review

The unsung heroes, I believe, are the crew. Be it the visual and special effects department that decided on a 70/30 split in favor of practical effects. Or the art/set design that made every crime scene uncomfortable (yet pleasing to effects gurus) to look at. Or even the editing that looked flawless during the most chaotic of scenes. While I could go on, I will just say the ENTIRE crew deserves a round of applause.

Boar implements the best elements from past creature features like Jaws and Lake Placid which results in a good time for anyone interested in the genre.
