Ghost Teases Next Album, Wins Best Album For 'Prequelle', And Announces New Tour

Ghost New Album Kerrang Awards

During a fairly recent interview at Australia’s OverDrive, Tobias Forge, director of Ghost, has stated to expect another Ghost album in early 2021. The next release date was said to be early 2020 before, but due to the extensive, growing list of cities Ghost is playing in, that pushed the recording schedule back. Ghost has been making large headway in the metal community while on tour in Europe with heavy metal giants Metallica.

Forge goes into a little detail with the recording process as to the amount of time it takes and why. Forge states: “People need to understand that I spend about 5 to 6 months in the studio. That’s not with red lights going or anything [Laughing]. But it’s just being in that creative environment you know? I also try to work ‘normal’ hours because I have a family also so, I try to work traditional hours, you know. I like to come in on Monday morning at about 9 am/10 am and then I do normal stuff like have lunch and think about what’s going on, and then I wrap up for the day and head home and see my family."

He continues, "In order to make that record, it’s gonna take me about 6 months and then that’s gonna take me to the summer, which we’ve already decided we’re gonna take a break a let the dust settle, and then hopefully by the end of the summer the record will be finished.”

Additionally, during the annual Kerrang! Awards show back in June, Ghost won "Best Album" for Prequelle (read our review). They were also nominated for "Best International Live Act". This was just a month following the Grammys nomination for "Best Rock Album".
