Portland punk-thrash crossover band Toxic Holocaust, led by frontman Joel Grind, has signed a worldwide record deal with Entertainment One (eOne). The band also announced its first new album in six years, Primal Future: 2019, which will be released on October 4th!
"I am proud to announce that not only is the new album finished but also that I have joined the roster over at eOne...and I am in good company," Grind said in a press release.
"The entire team is very excited to have such an influential band joining the roster," says SVP of rock and metal, Scott Givens. "Entertainment One's commitment to metal remains steadfast and ongoing."
Toxic Holocaust will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, taking into account the band's accomplishments and achievements since the its inception in 1999. Grind said: "Starting in 1999, Toxic Holocaust released its first demo. In 1999, thrash metal was about as 'uncool' as you could get. Struggling to find other band members and given the rural location, I forged on as a solo project. New releases saw Toxic signing with a few noteworthy labels, touring, and spreading the music around the world. After various lineups and incarnations throughout the years, I have decided to come full circle for this 20th-anniversary era and release an album going back to solo project roots."
"When I started the band in 1999, I never imagined I'd still be doing it in 2019," Grind added. "It's been a long time coming but the new album is finally ready and it's sort of a culmination of my past twenty years of doing this band. Most notably, I decided to go back to my roots and record this entire album by myself and play all of the instruments like I did in the early days. It was a lot of fun and nostalgic and at the same time exciting to be able to apply everything I've learned over the years."
Primal Future: 2019 was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Grind with artwork by Steve Crisp. Ahead of the album's release, a lyric video for opening bruiser, "Chemical Warlords," has been unveiled. Listen below!
Introducing the track, Grind said, "'Chemical Warlords' opens the album and sets the tone for the rest of the record. My vision for this album was sort of a cyberpunk dystopian future. Enjoy!"
