Lucio Fulci's 'Zombie' To Screen At The Metrograph In New York This October

Lucio Fulci Zombie Screening Academy at Metrograph

Before I die, I must see Lucio Fulci's Zombie (aka Zombi 2) on the big screen!

Well, those of you in the New York City area will soon be able to do just that, as The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a screening of the 1979 gore-fest at the Metrograph on Saturday, October 19th, 2019.

Screening as a part of the monthly event series, Academy at Metrograph, the event will begin at 7:30 PM.

"Fabio Frizzi’s dread-inducing theme song, unforgettable ocular violence, an underwater grudge match between a zombie and a tiger shark, and a final image of apocalyptic terror: These are just a few of the pleasures of Fulci’s Zombi 2, made as an unofficial sequel to George A. Romero’s 1978 Dawn of the Dead but able to stand on its own merits."

"Repeat Fulci collaborators Giannetto De Rossi, Maurizio Trani, and Giovanni Corridori, handling makeup and special effects, give squishy, squelching, all-too-real form to the nightmare images spawned from Fulci’s fertile brain, combining to create a messy, malevolent masterwork of Italian horror."

In Zombie, starring Tisa Farrow, Ian McCulloch, and Richard Johnson, strangers searching for a young woman's missing father arrive at a tropical island where a doctor desperately seeks the cause and cure of a recent epidemic of the undead.
