New 'In Search Of Darkness' Clip Praises 'Sleepaway Camp'

Sleepaway Camp Clip In Search of Darkness

In a time before the internet and social media (which practically ruin most effective movie plot twists), those who were fortunate enough to watch Robert Hiltzik's iconic 1983 slasher, Sleepaway Camp, without knowing how it ended, were treated to one of the most shocking twists that the genre had to offer. All these years later, the "upside-down slasher" still packs a punch and continues to receive praise from critics and fans alike.

In this new In Search of Darkness clip, horror host Joe Bob Briggs, Fangoria Editor-in-Chief Phil Nobile Jr., and Good Bad Flicks host Cecil Trachenburg chat about the infamous ending and the unique elements that make the film stand out to this day.

"In Search of Darkness is the most complete retrospective documentary of the genre ever made. Featuring compelling critical takes, insider tales, and unheard anecdotes, this extraordinary documentary delivers a new perspective on the decade that gave rise to some of the horror genre’s greatest films and franchises."

Over its four-hour-plus runtime, In Search of Darkness features an incredible cast of 45+ contributors, including John Carpenter, Heather Langenkamp, Doug Bradley, Kane Hodder and Barbara Crampton.

Directed by David A. Weiner, the documentary will also feature a number notable pop culture pundits and industry experts alike: Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor, Joe Bob Briggs, Ryan Turek (producer, Halloween [2018], Happy Death Day), Diana Prince (Darcy the Mail Girl from "The Last Drive-In") Ben Scrivens (Fright-Rags), and Katie Featherston (the Paranormal Activity series), to name a few.

Following the film's recent premiere at Beyond Fest, it was revealed that there's a new special edition release, available on Blu-ray or DVD, and including a poster, enamel pin, postcard and an opportunity to be featured in the credits. The special package is only available for the month of October and will cost you $59.99.
