Mötley Crüe Announces Reunion By Blowing Up "Cessation Of Touring Agreement" [Video]

We're coming up on four years since Mötley Crüe wrapped up what they agreed would be their final tour, but as most of you already know, these claims usually don't stick with bands of such high status.

"Legally, we can’t play again. The only loophole is if all four band members agreed to do it, we could override our own contract. But we know that will never happen. There are people in this band who will refuse to ever do it again, and you’re talking to one of them. There is no amount of money that would ever make me do it again because I have such pride in how we’re ending it," Nikki Sixx said in 2014.

Of course, this was a bunch of malarkey, as the Crüe have released a video today that literally blows up the alleged contract preventing them from going on tour. This doesn't come as much of a surprise and it certainly isn't the first time a band has cried wolf on the whole "final tour" deal.

The band said in a statement that the success of Netflix biopic The Dirt (review) resulted in "a massive surge in new audience."

"The contract is off the table because a whole new generation of Crüeheads are relentlessly demanding for the band to come back together," the statement continued.

Now, it may seem that I'm being facetious here, but I'm happy for the band and the fans, as I've been a bonafide Crüehead for many years. Hell, they were the first band I ever saw in concert back when I was 14 years old. I'll always love and appreciate the contributions they've made to the metal genre.

Additionally, Rolling Stone reports that the infamous metal group will be hitting the road in 2020 for a stadium tour around the U.S. with Poison and Def Leppard. Specific dates and venues have yet to be announced.

Mötley Crüe 2014-15 Final Tour took the band around the world for 158 shows and wrapped up with a hometown show at the Forum in Los Angeles on December 31st, 2015.
