Columbus Alt-Drag Artist Bea Brat Releases New Single "Pretty," Teases Upcoming EP 'Artificial Icon'

Bea Brat New Single "Pretty" EP Artificial Icon

She just wants to be a pretty girl.

Bea Brat, the self-proclaimed “edgy lil cunt duchess,” released her new single “Pretty” this past Friday, as a taste test of her upcoming EP, Artificial Icon. The song focuses on the societal pressures of beauty, as Bea raps at a hypothetical doctor, demanding that they “make me pretty, bitch.” With a cover featuring a simple surgical scalpel, a repetitive, wonky melody, and an instantly catchy refrain, Bea has a short and sweet new track to be played at maximum volume.

Recently, the Columbus native has been featured prominently at the “Beautiful Garbage” series of shows, the most recent of which featured “Dragula” royalty Dollya Black and Vander von Odd. She also was featured as a producer for the final challenge of “Face Off Drag Race,” a competition series hosted by drag activist Selena T. West. Previously in her music, Brat released her first single, “Paris Hilton Dead in Dubai,” and was featured on David Munster’s track “Boys Like It,” from Munster’s Mirror I release.

I have shared a stage with Bea once before, and I therefore know what she is capable of. Those following her Instagram page have seen her with RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Aja (Season 9, All Stars 3), and the Brooklyn legend has given her stamp of approval to Brat many times before. Believe the hype is all I can really say here. If this is what we have to go off of, I have high hopes for Artificial Icon.

Stream “Pretty” below and be sure to follow Bea on Instagram for more updates!
