Slipknot Offers Warped, Psychedelic Video for "Nero Forte"

Slipknot Nero Forte Music Video

I have made no secret of my love for Slipknot and their latest offering, We Are Not Your Kind (read my review here), and seeing the album make many a year-end list proves that two decades into their run, the Knot are still very much at the forefront. Just as their sixth studio album branched out into uncharted musical territory, so too does the latest music video from the Nine, this one for the frenetic “Nero Forte.”

The music video uses warped imaging, deeply saturated color palettes, and a figure trapped in what appears to be webbing for an all-around haunting, trippy viewing experience. The close-ups of singer Corey Taylor’s mouth are uncomfortable, and the shape of his new mask does no favors in that department. Every shot of Shawn “Clown” Crahan about to go to town on the keg he’s about to bash as makeshift percussion instills a sense of impending chaos, just as the intro to this very track does.

If 2019 was Slipknot’s year, 2020 may be on track to be part two. In January, the group is taking their festival Knotfest to Europe, with the first offering happening in Dublin, Ireland. On top of that, there is an experimental record, titled Look Outside Your Window that is currently in the works, full of tracks recorded during the All Hope is Gone sessions back in 2008. And with no plans named for Taylor’s second band, Stone Sour, it appears as though the frontman’s attention is almost solely on Slipknot, which can only mean good things moving forward.

See the video for “Nero Forte” below.
