Why so serious?
Just as the Todd Phillips-directed Joker (read our review) sweeps the major film award nominations, the most recognizable and iconic of the DC Comics villains is set for Kombat. Joker will join the roster of Mortal Kombat 11 soon, as Kombat Pack holders will have him January 28th, and the general public will be able to purchase the character on February 4th.
The gameplay trailer shows off a number of Joker's offensive moves. For one, the butterfly knife he wields is a step up from the kitchen knife he previously had in Injustice. The extendable boxing gloves are a comical weapon that make for a devastating punchline. He employs a number of firearms, including SMGs and shotguns, and unlike Joker's previous Mortal Kombat appearance, the results are not censored in the US version.
His Fatal Blow is downright gory, with knives and mallets serving as instruments for a crimson cacophony of chaos. For a Fatality, the cinematic starts as a take on Friendship, complete with a big cake, but by the end, it is a bevy of bullets, blood, and bifurcation.
This will be the penultimate DLC pack for the Kombat Pack, as the end of March will see Spawn, the Todd McFarlane brainchild, fill out the Kombatant roster.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
