'Cyberpunk 2077' Has Been Delayed Again, Now Releasing In September

Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Again September 2020

In true punk fashion, CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 will be showing up late. The company has announced that their sci-fi RPG has been pushed back from its original release date of April 16th and is now scheduled to launch on September 17th.

In an update posted on CD Projekt Red's Twitter and official website, Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski and Head of Studio Adam Badowski stated that while the game is currently at a stage where it’s "complete and playable", there's still work to be done. They add that the studio needs "more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing."

"We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us the precious months we need to make the game perfect," they add.

Following the delay announcement, CD Projekt Red held a press conference to discuss the delay and answer questions from investors, and according to a report by IGN, the game’s multiplayer component won’t be available until after 2021, as it's being developed on its own alongside the core game.

"Given the expected release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September, and speaking of a series of events we expect to occur after that date, 2021 appears unlikely as a release date for the Cyberpunk multiplayer," says Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt’s Member of the Board and SVP of Business Development.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and Google Stadia. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the new release date.
