Ahead of their upcoming record Killection, due at the end of the month, Lordi have another track to grace our ears with. This newest song is “Like a Bee to the Honey,” a number about being hopelessly in love. While Killection is billed as “A Fictional Compilation Album,” which poses the concept of Lordi having been around since the '70s and making music through all of our favorite eras and subgenres, this new track has quite the story behind it.
The song was written by KISS singer/guitarist Paul Stanley and Jean Beauvoir, and has been more or less shelved by the latter for decades. The song was given to the Finnish monster metallers, and as such, it takes on a whole new meaning. The animated, comic book-style music video poses the song from an obsessed lover’s perspective (take that, Joe Goldberg/Will Bettelheim), and things get odd quick. Then, what do we expect from the band behind “I Dug a Hole in the Yard for You” and “Shake the Baby Silent,” two other songs from Killection?
As an added touch of '80s glory, the song features a very fun saxophone solo from Hanoi Rocks’ Michael Monroe.
Following the release of Killection on January 31, the band is going on a European tour from mid-February to early April, the last dates of which will place the band in their native Finland.
