Aesthetic Perfection Unveils Cellar Sessions Cover of Lana Del Rey's "Gods and Monsters" [Video]

Daniel Graves, the creative force beyond industrial pop stalwart Aesthetic Perfection, is all about the DIY approach to his music and art. He prides himself on being 100% independent, releasing his music under his own Close to Human label. Beginning last week, Graves has also begun releasing his Cellar Sessions videos, covering some of his favorite songs from other artists, the first of which was Orville Peck’s “Dead of Night.”

Now, one week after that release, Graves has released another interpretation of pop music, this time with a cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Gods and Monsters.” Taking Del Rey’s classic, originally released on her Paradise EP and covered by Jessica Lange’s character Elsa Mars on “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” and stripping it down to its barest essentials, Graves’ version is simple and clean, a straightforward pop song with smooth production values.

Says Graves about the Cellar Sessions:

“Cellar Sessions is an experiment that seeks to explore what happens when you limit the tools you have available in order to push your creative and technical boundaries. For this session, I decided to cover three wildly different songs, recreate them using only Native Instrument's Maschine hardware / software and perform them in their original keys and octaves. The performance was shot and edited by myself at my home in Austria. I hope you enjoy it!”

Since there are three songs in this session, it stands to reason that the final track will come next Monday on the Close to Human YouTube channel.
