Angela Gossow bowed out of melodeath titans Arch Enemy following their Khaos Legions record, tagging in then-The Agonist singer Alissa White-Gluz, before assuming the role of manager for the band instead. The guttural German’s vocals have yet to grace a track until now, as Swedish metallers Amaranthe coaxed her back behind the microphone for a new song.
“Do or Die” is the first sample from the band’s upcoming sixth studio effort. It serves as an energetic piece of metal, with stabbing synths matching the guitar lines and a fist-pumping, uplifting chorus. The soaring voice of Elize Ryd plays beauty to Gossow’s beast, and current Arch Enemy guitarist Jeff Loomis chips in a dizzying guitar solo as only he can.
The music video sees singer Ryd playing The Huntress to Gossow’s Undertaker (no, not Mark Calaway) in a barren wasteland. Marcus Overbeck directed the music video, which can be viewed below.
The new album does not have a name yet, but is currently slated for a September 2020 release.
