While the new Bond film No Time to Die has been delayed, therefore putting off the film bearing her title song, Billie Eilish has given her fans something to tide them over. In what may very well be the first taste of the follow up to WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? the singer has released “my future,” a song of two moods.
Embracing a bit more of a crooning, vocal-driven style as she did on “No Time to Die,” the first part of the song has a very subtle bass and Wurlitzer part, steeped in melancholy and uncertainty. When the percussion and bass kick up a notch for part two, the song picks up an upbeat, almost excited tone, despite Billie’s vocal delivery not changing that much. It works on so many levels, and if this is the direction her next album is taking, count me in.
Produced by her brother Finneas, the song has an animated music video, directed by Andrew Onorato, which as of this printing has already amassed over 22.7 million views since it dropped on YouTube this past Thursday.
