As if the summer metal tour slate wasn’t already stacked higher than an IHOP plate, Deftones have announced their plans for their own summer (and yes, you may, in fact, shove it). The alt-metal outfit has called upon French metal standouts Gojira to tag along, and their special guest will be the post-genre princess herself, Poppy.
At the moment, Deftones are rumored to be working on the follow-up to their last effort, 2016’s Gore. One would assume that during the tour, if said album hasn’t been released yet, we can at least expect some new material to go with the band’s extensive, eight albums deep catalog. Like Deftones, Gojira’s last studio work came in 2016, and that work is the crushing Magma. Poppy has the most recent work, her third album I Disagree having been released in January of this year (read my review of that album here).
