Evanescence Release Raw, Remotely-Shot Music Video for "The Game Is Over"

Evanescence The Game is Over Music Video

Earlier this week, Evanescence let loose a rocking new single in “The Game Is Over,” the second taste of their upcoming album The Bitter Truth, which currently has no concrete release date beyond the nebulous “some time this year.” The song, a different beast than the swaying lament of “Wasted on You,” is about authenticity of self, a promise to be who you really are, no matter if it makes others uncomfortable or uneasy.

Today, the music video for “The Game Is Over” dropped, and like the video for “Wasted on You,” it was filmed remotely and individually by each member of the band and pulled together by director P.R. Brown. Using dead behind the eyes stares and unsettling close-ups, the video highlights the mental struggles one faces in living as their true selves. Though certainly a product of the pandemic-plagued world we currently live in, the meaning of the song and the video can be easily adapted once the dust has settled, whenever that may be.
