'Friday the 13th: The Game' Final Patch Detailed; Dedicated Servers Being Decommissioned

The future of Friday the 13th: The Game has been bleak ever since the ongoing legal issues plaguing all things Friday the 13th franchise halted the game's progress back in 2018, and the developers at Gun Media have this morning issued a statement regarding what changes this month will bring to the multiplayer survival horror game. And there are some big ones...

"All things must come to an end, eventually," Gun Media's lead community developer Matt began a lengthy update over on the game's official forum.

He continues, "Dedicated Servers for Friday the 13th: The Game will be decommissioned in the upcoming patch, set to roll out this month, November 2020. What this means is that the game will revert back to peer to peer matchmaking for Quick Play lobbies. The Database Servers, however, will stay active and continue to house all player progression and unlocks, so users can continue to play Friday the 13th: The Game via peer to peer Quick Play and Private Matches."

"The patch that will go live in November will also be the final patch for Friday the 13th: The Game. The team has been hard at work completing fixes for a long list of player issues to include in that final patch, and the community can expect finalized patch notes to be released in the week prior to the patch going live."

If you have yet to play the game, it will continue to be available for sale, and as such "will continue to receive the full support of JasonKillsBugs.com as a resource for troubleshooting."

On a positive note, the double XP, CP, and tape drop rates that Gun set in the start of the pandemic will remain active indefinitely.

This certainly is some tough news to hear, despite being inevitable. Regardless, I'll always be left wondering what might have been, especially with the planned Jason X and "Grendel" spaceship map DLC that was scrapped when development on any future content came to an abrupt end.

Friday the 13th: The Game is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
