Lizzy Borden Unleashes Cover of Ramones' "Pet Sematary" Ahead of New Greatest Hits Compilation

I don’t wanna be buried in a pet sematary, and neither do the underrated Lizzy Borden, who have given us their version of the Ramones track. I’m not sure where the renewed groundswell of love for the song came from, as industrial pop marvel Aesthetic Perfection covered the song earlier this fall, but I am all the way here for it. This interpretation of this Nineties punk cut takes a more traditional metal approach, harkening back to the days of big hair and bigger riffs. The synth flourishes in the original aren’t interpreted here, and neither are the drums fills that populate the original track on its way to the fade, but this stripped-back approach makes Lizzy Borden’s version a fun one nevertheless.

This track is one of fourteen which will feature on the band’s second Best Of compilation, set to release through Metal Blade Records on Friday the 13th of November. Twelve tracks come from the band’s three most recent albums, with two covers added, including “Pet Sematary.” The tracklist for Best of Lizzy Borden, Vol. 2 reads as follows:

  1. My Midnight Things

  2. Long May They Haunt Us

  3. Tomorrow Never Comes

  4. Obsessed with You

  5. (This Ain’t) The Summer of Love

  6. Under Your Skin

  7. Lovin’ You Is Murder

  8. The Scar Across My Heart

  9. There Will Be Blood Tonight

  10. We Only Come Out at Night

  11. Abnormal

  12. Live Forever

  13. Pet Sematary

  14. Burnin’ for You
