I don’t wanna be buried in a pet sematary, and neither do the underrated Lizzy Borden, who have given us their version of the Ramones track. I’m not sure where the renewed groundswell of love for the song came from, as industrial pop marvel Aesthetic Perfection covered the song earlier this fall, but I am all the way here for it. This interpretation of this Nineties punk cut takes a more traditional metal approach, harkening back to the days of big hair and bigger riffs. The synth flourishes in the original aren’t interpreted here, and neither are the drums fills that populate the original track on its way to the fade, but this stripped-back approach makes Lizzy Borden’s version a fun one nevertheless.
This track is one of fourteen which will feature on the band’s second Best Of compilation, set to release through Metal Blade Records on Friday the 13th of November.
