Moris Blak’s remix game is certifiably unfuckwithable, with his reworkings of Orgy’s “Blue Monday,” Backxwash’s “Bad Juju,” and Poppy’s “BLOODMONEY” just a few of the Boston bass lord’s key tracks aside from his original material. Finally, though, Blak has snapped the dry spell on fully original material, teaming up with Korean artist Limbo Slice for a thunderous track called “The Unreality.” The track is the first original material from Blak since his debut album The Irregularity of Being, and no, I won’t stop singing its praises anytime soon.
With as many singles as Moris Blak has released as of late, one has to wonder if a new Revisions installment is coming soon. The last one, released back in February, featured the aforementioned Poppy remix alongside Static Starlight, as well as a collaboration with Black Noize on a version of Grimes’ “We Appreciate Power.” In previous Revisions releases, Blak has also remixed Childish Gambino, Type O Negative, and White Zombie, making the guessing game of “who’s next” that much more difficult to play.
Whether the move is towards new original material or a remix compilation, it’s clear that said move will be executed with a heavy hand - and that’s not a bad thing at all.
