Following the game-changing Irregularity of Being, Moris Blak has spent much of his time working on remixes of industrial-heavy songs new and old. We previously covered his and Static Starlight’s version of Poppy’s single “BLOODMONEY,” but for his newest creation, Blak has stepped back in time and dug up Orgy’s cover of New Order’s 1983 hit “Blue Monday,” covered by the former on their 1998 album Candyass.
Blak’s signature industrial bass style is evident from the jump, and only grows in prevalence as the track progresses. Orgy’s version is danceable enough, but this remix is sure to fill dance floors full when it’s time. It’s faithful to the original to a point, while still bearing the indelible mark of the leader of the cult of industrial bass. Either way, it’s a damn treat to listen to.
While the remix is, as of this writing, currently only available on SoundCloud, the producer has remarked that he will be releasing it for purchase on Bandcamp this Friday, as the platform has announced that they are waiving their cut of any and all music sold for the entirety of the day. So if you’re waiting to get your hands on this remix, bide your time till Friday, as it will be an even stronger support of independent artists than usual.
