But I just love the life I lead, another beer is what I need, another gig, my ears bleed…
Back in 2015, the rock n roll legends that are Motörhead unveiled a partnership with Camerons Brewery, the result of which was an IPA known as "Röad Crew,” after their legendary schlepping anthem “(We Are) the Road Crew.” The brew, made with blackcurrants, is a golden, citrus American session IPA that’s not too sweet or bitter, with hops such as Galena, Bramling Cross, and Mandarina Bavaria. Guitarist “Philthy” Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee had a hand in developing the beer.
This very fast, very loud beer is now making its way stateside, and should arrive sometime this month. Ale Asylum, a brewery based out of Madison, WI who released a FVCK COVID beer earlier this year, is handling the American version of the brew, in tandem with Brew Pipeline. The beer will come in packs of 4-16oz. cans, with an MSRP between $9.99-10.99, depending on promotions and/or state taxes, as well as in kegs.
The beer’s namesake song was released on the landmark Ace of Spades album, and was written based on singer/bassist Lemmy Kilmister’s time as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix. Said Lemmy about the ten minutes in a studio bathroom that it took to write the iconic song, “It was the only quiet place in the building. I had an idea and I needed somewhere to work it through. That is the only song I can remember writing in the toilet.” Decades later, the trials and tribulations of the early years of a bonafide rock god are immortalized in the form of this crisp, citrus brew, which fans can raise up and declare:
We are the road crew!
