From his Five Nights at Freddy’s inspired songs such as “Salvaged” and “This is the End,” to his spirited cover of “Viridian City” featuring Arin “Egoraptor” Hanson of Game Grumps fame, Nathan Sharp has dedicated his musical life to celebrating video games. He has written and produced entire albums to franchises including The Legend of Zelda and those listed above, as well as covering anime opening themes and some of his favorite pop and punk tracks.
As Halloween draws nearer, the proprietor of Give Heart Records himself is set to release his latest creation, What You Want, a new original album dedicated to horror video games. The album follows Sharp’s previous original studio release, the Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired Gotta Go Fast released earlier this year.
The album, set to be released on October 26th, features songs inspired by titles such as Five Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted, Bendy and the Ink Machine, Hello Neighbor, and Hello Puppets. The most recently revealed track “Manipulate” is inspired by the harrowing visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club. While Nate is known for a hard rock sound, this song is more of a synth-driven pop affair, with plenty of emotional weight and bit of unease by the odd vocal effect.
