NateWantsToBattle Premieres New Track "Haunted and Unwanted," Based on 'Petscop'

On the road to his new album What You Want, independent musician Nathan Sharp, better known as NateWantsToBattle, has been steadily dropping the entirety of the album on his Give Heart Records YouTube channel. While previous subjects have included Bendy and the Ink Machine (“My Name Isn’t Mine”) and Doki Doki Literature Club (“Manipulate”), this latest song is from a game that’s a bit further under the radar than others.

“Haunted and Unwanted” is based around the web series Petscop, elaborate in its storytelling and depth of its characters, as well as its strange concept of in-game vs. out-of-game. The song once again features a Linkin Park sort of vibe, a heavily hip-hop influenced delivery from Sharp over a decidedly pop-oriented production. It’s different enough for Nate, but it works so well, it’s hard to really find fault. There’s an unease in the instrumentation, a foreboding nature to the low-sung verses that build into the faster chorus bars. Unique is a word for this one, and not in a negative light, either.

What You Want will be released on Monday, October 26th via Give Heart Records. Pre-order the album here.
