Nightwish made waves with “Noise,” the first single from their upcoming ninth studio work, Human :||: Nature. The sound was classic Nightwish, their signature symphonic-driven power metal fully on display. For a first new track since 2015’s Endless Forms Most Beautiful, it was a proper welcome back to the forefront.
But with their newest song “Harvest,” the band dips their sonic toes into a folk sound. Featuring acoustic guitars, a prominent piano, and a choir beaming through the chorus, the newest song is a step in a new direction for the Finnish metal titans. By the time the guitars kick in, a pan flute riffs over the orchestral arrangement, growing the already dense soundscape the band is known for.
