Nightwish Singer Floor Jansen Covers Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" For Her Daughter

Disney coverage? On CryptTeaze? What has become of this site in the year of our Lord, 2020? If that sentence above left your lips as you read the headline, calm yourself, cuz the story behind this cover is far more wholesome than you might think.

See, Nightwish singer Floor Jansen has a darling little girl Freja, who was born to her and husband Hannes Van Dahl of Sabaton back in 2017. As is the case with many little tykes, young Freja is obsessed with Disney, and has been singing the Frozen track “Let It Go” quite a bit during lockdown. Enter Floor’s friend and The Fouxes’ Oscar Fläring, who collaborated to make this cover of the climactic Idina Menzel song.

Says Jansen about the project:

“Freja has been listening to singing Let It Go from the Disney movie, Frozen, for months. For fun and also because I miss performing for you, I decided to cover Let It Go from Frozen for all of you! Let It Go has been stuck in my head for months, so now it's your turn. ;)

We added a bit of a rock & metal sound to it and gave it a bit of our own twist!”

Sure enough, Jansen makes the most of her range in this iteration, positively belting out that pre-last chorus note and bringing the house down with her performance. Fläring’s instrumental is fitting of Jansen’s symphonic metal roots, without going too indulgent or over the top at any point. It’s a faithful rendition with a metallic lens, and it can at least serve as a break from the thousand replays any of our readers’ children may have subjected them to by now, which at this point may entitle said readers to financial compensation.
