Pimmit Hills Bring Heavy, Doomy Blues With New Track "Lost River"

From the remains of Southern doom metal act King Giant comes Pimmit Hills, an Appalachian heavy blues band with plenty of death rock and hard rock punch. Coupled with the demise of not only their former band, but also one of their former band members, the Virginia-based act deals with heavy subject matter in their music, rivaled in heaviness only by the monster riffing on display. Their previous experience lends itself to a weighty, dense block of hard rock, informed by the blues and doom metal.

In preparation for the release of their debut EP Heathens & Prophets, Pimmit Hills have released their first single, “Lost River,” a seven-minute jam buffered by the keyboard work of J. Robbins, who also mixed the EP. The song starts off slow and easy, before ramping up the riffage within the first minute. The gravelly, commanding vocals of David Hammerly have been appropriately compared to those of Glenn Danzig. Take those vocals away, and the composition could stand up to a fair amount of doom metal coming out these days. With the vocals, we get a slice of Americana, that mid-Atlantic accent on a track steeped in gloom.

Produced by drummer Keith Brooks and guitarist Todd Ingram, Heathens & Prophets is set to be released on September 18th.
