Pitch Black North, our favorite Satanic Tea Company, has put out some stellar blends of the most blasphemous teas you’ll ever taste, including previous collaborations with Cradle of Filth, Bloodbath, and Twin Temple. For the brand’s latest batch, the goal was opulence, grandeur, a feeling of status and superiority, all while hailing the man downstairs. How can this possibly be achieved?
Answer: add edible gold to the brew and really make it about excess, but in another fashion altogether.
PBN have partnered with New York-based experimental metal trio Imperial Triumphant to release “Dead Splendor,” a luxurious lapsang souchong tea with a high-society twist: edible gold leaf. Pitch Black North refers to Imperial Triumphant as “one of the most interesting and fresh black metal bands doing it today,” making this one of the most interesting and fresh teas today. Given how PNB have been shaking the world of small-batch tea up since their genesis, that’s saying something.
Imperial Triumphant have been together since 2005, and have released four full-lengths and four EPs, the most recent of which being 2020’s Alphaville LP. On the subject of their New York home:
