Popcorn Frights to Host "Ladies' Frights" Event Featuring 'Heathers', 'Elvira' and 'Hello Mary Lou'

Every single time Popcorn Frights announces a special screening event, I'm tempted to pack up my family and move to Fort Lauderdale, because they treat horror fans to some of the coolest and rarest big screen presentations, and do so on a regular basis.

If you're in the area, you won't want to miss their next event, which celebrates the most badass ladies of horror, featuring presentations of Heathers, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, and a special 35th anniversary screening of Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, featuring a live post-screening virtual Q&A with director Bruce Pittman.

"If looks could kill, then we’re in for one hell of a horror weekend! Throw on your black dress, pop on your crown and grab your wooden croquet mallet, as Popcorn Frights presents Ladies' Frights, taking place June 17th & 18th."

Individual tickets are available for all three films, or you can double your pleasure and enjoy a Friday Night Fright double-bill ticket for both Heathers and Elvira film events... the choice is yours!

The Friday Night Frights event at the Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale will feature Cucina Bambina food truck serving all kinds of savory Italian dishes for you to enjoy, including the Heathers inspired, "Veronica’s Pasta Dinner with or without extra oregano." Food will be available from 7pm-10:30pm. Vegan options are also available.

About Heathers:

Watch your back as the trendsetters of Westerberg High School are chewing up the scenery and may just have you in their evil sights in Heathers! Crackling in a new restoration, it’s the mother of all popular-school-girls-bullying-everyone-else comedy and it is waaay darker, sharper, and generally more brilliant than all that have tried to claim its scrunchie crown.

About Elvira, Mistress of the Dark:

She’s back! Elvira, Horrorland’s hostess with the mostest, finally busts out in her big scream debut! Campy, quirky, and stuffed to the brim with double entendres, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark sees the madonna of the macabre totally wilding out and owning every inch of the screen with her quick wit, sass, and of course, cleaving-enhancing gown!

About Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II:

Thirty years after her fiery death at the senior prom, the tortured soul of sultry supernatural slasher Mary Lou is resurrected as a body-possessing death machine with one thing on her mind: VIOLENCE! She also… still wants to be prom queen. The Prom Night franchise kicks into delirious supernatural slasher overdrive with this delightfully energetic, in-name-only follow-up. Co-starring genre legend Michael Ironside, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II is a wild, sleazy joyride with one of the most liberated and unapologetic killer women in horror.
