The metal community was rocked earlier this week with the absolutely devastating news of Power Trip frontman Riley Gale's untimely passing in his sleep at the age of 34.
In a surprising and heartfelt memorial, Fox News host and friend of Gale, Greg Gutfeld said, "I played two of his songs right here on The Five, from his amazing record Nightmare Logic. If you like metal, you'll dig that, and you should get it and make that album go #1."
Well, just that has happened, as fans have shown their support by buying the band's aforementioned 2017 album, as well as their full-length debut Manifest Decimation, sending both to the #1 and #2 spots respectively on Apple Music's Top Metal and Rock Album charts.
To put things into perspective here, both Nightmare Logic and Manifest Decimation outsold Metallica's Black Album and Tool's Fear Inoculum on the Metal charts, and surpassed Creedence Clearwater Revival's Chronicle and Journey's Greatest Hits on the Rock charts.
While Gale wasn't necessarily motivated by dominating music charts, it's heartwarming to see the metal community coming together to show support for such a talented and genuine figure. Riley Gale was undoubtedly a legend in the making, taken way too soon.
Personally, I'm just happy to know that so many new ears are hearing Power Trip's music and what Riley had to say with his powerful and outspoken lyrics.
If you already own Power Trip's albums and would like to show your support in another way, Gale's family asks that in lieu of flowers, send donations to Dallas Hope Charities.
