Thanks in no small part to its inclusion in the universe of Dead by Daylight, Silent Hill has come back into the conscience of the horror gaming world. With the franchise laying dormant since the blink and you’ll miss it P.T, as well as the success of the revived Resident Evil franchise, fans of the survival horror classic have been clamoring for something to come from Konami’s legendary IP.
While we cannot confirm any new developments within the franchise, we can announce that the fourth installment in the series, subtitled The Room, is now available on PC via GOG.com, the DRM-free digital distribution platform that is part of the CD Projekt Red family.
For those who are unfamiliar with this overlooked PS2-era classic:
Henry Townshend finds himself trapped in his apartment and the only escape is through a mysterious portal that leads to a horrifying alternate reality. With gruesome sights around every corner and his sanity being tested, he must find his way out of this nightmare. Enter The Room, a thrilling story in the most terrifying game series of all time.
With this re-issuing of one of the key entries in the original quadrilogy, this could be Konami’s testing the waters, their way of gauging the fan interest in a potential full remaster of any of the games. With the next-generation consoles coming very soon, this litmus test could lead to a return to the weirdest, foggiest city in the land before long.
Purchase the game from GOG.com for just $9.99 USD here.
