Spike Chunsoft Has Regained Publishing Rights For 'Danganronpa' Series

The tenth anniversary for the visual novel saga that is Danganronpa has another ripple in the celebrations. At the end of May, the first installment, Trigger Happy Havoc, came to mobile for the first time ever. The sequels, Goodbye Despair and Killing Harmony, are slated to follow on iOS and Android later this year, but for console players, things just got a bit more complicated.

In a tweeted statement on Tuesday, Spike Chunsoft, developers of the beloved franchise, revealed that they will be the sole publishers for the series going forward. Previously, NIS America served this role, though this settles the issue that NIS America let loose; that is, that the games would be removed from the PlayStation Store in August and September.

One would assume that once things are finalized, as Spike Chunsoft has said they will soon be, that the games would return to digital storefronts quickly, but this hasn’t been explicitly indicated by either party.

PS Vita players will see the games come off the store at the following dates:

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls - August 31

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc - September 4

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - September 4

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony - September 25

PlayStation 4 players will see V3: Killing Harmony come off the storefront on the above date, though it appears that Danganronpa 1+2 Reload will remain on the store for now. It’s worth mentioning that there is also a Trilogy collection available in both digital and physical formats for PlayStation 4.

Fortunately, for fans of the second entry, that has been slated for the promised mobile release on August 20, days before the PS Vita store removal.
