Evil disco is alive and well, as Static-X continue to honor their frontman and namesake, the late Wayne Static. The new album Project Regeneration Vol. 1 has unfortunately been pushed back from its original release date of May 29th to July 10th, due to manufacturing issues. Bassist/backing vocalist Tony Campos assures fans that the album is “100% complete,” but that manufacturing of physical copies came to a halt amid the ongoing pandemic.
To make up for it, the band dropped a new single today, entitled “All These Years.” Like the previous cut “Hollow,” the song features vocals from the late Wayne Static, as well as the original lineup of the band, consisting of guitarist Koichi Fukuda, drummer Ken Jay, and the aforementioned Tony Campos.. Producing the single is Xero, the masked man attempting to fill the shoes of the evil disco enthusiast himself. The music video for “All These Years,” co-directed by Xero and Matt Zane, sees a fictionalized account of how Wayne Wells found the Static in his younger years, as well as how the hell his trademark spiked hair got to be that way in the first place.
Project Regeneration will be available on streaming and CD on July 10th, with vinyl release slated for August 14th. The European tour the band was set for this summer is currently being rescheduled.
