Brian Graupner has been busy lately: His side project Gasoline Invertebrate, streaming interview show Space Couch, releasing some of the best new tunes out there on label Tigersquawk Records, and guest appearances on streaming shows far and wide. And now after five years, a new iron in the fire -- the first new Gothsicles record in five years.
Animal Songs, the follow-up to 2015’s I Feel Sicle, promises to contain “10 red-hot tracks that crawl, swim and flap!” If you loved instant classic Gothsicles track “Straight Up Otter Time”, this effort seems like it wil be right up your alley. The album promises the Gothsicles goofiness and danceability you’ve come to expect, augmented with new guests FIRES and MC Lars, as well as mastering by industrial dance mainstay Soman.
While there’s no official release date yet, Brian has released a Kickstarter campaign for those wishing to preorder and to back the project early. This gives you a chance to receive pre-release tracks as well as plenty of goodies -- ranging from wristbands and shirts to the first ever Gothsicles vinyl release. The project reached its original funding goal in under two hours (a record for them!) but is running until February 21st with ongoing stretch goals for those wanting to contribute.
Check out the full campaign breakdown on Kickstarter, and follow The Gothsicles on Facebook, Bandcamp, and the band's official website for more information on Animal Songs.
