'The Horror Show at Extreme Rules' Will Feature a Bar Fight Between Sheamus and Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy Sheamus WWE Horror Show at Extreme Rules

Tonight's episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FOX saw the progression of a controversial storyline involving Sheamus and Jeff Hardy. The angle centered around Hardy's battles with addiction, his most recent incident stemming from a legitimate charge of DUI last year. Following last week's "Toast to Jeff Hardy," which The Celtic Warrior hosted via satellite, the return match from last month's Backlash show is set to be a Bar Fight.

As upsetting as some of the imagery (i.e. the insinuation that Hardy ran over fellow superstar Elias while a bottle of liquor sit in the passenger's seat) has been, a Bar Fight, a match we haven't seen since the APA Bar Room Brawl Invitational at Vengeance 2003, makes sense here. It implicates a hardcore stipulation, fitting for the Extreme Rules branding, and could serve as a hard-hitting, if uncomfortable, cinematic match. Considering Hardy's history with Ladder and TLC matches, as well as Sheamus' history with Tables and Money in the Bank Ladder matches, this upcoming Bar Fight could be a sleeper hit on an already loaded match card.

The Horror Show at Extreme Rules will stream on the WWE Network next Sunday, July 19th, starting at 7pm EST.
