The Nominees For The 2021 Best Metal Performance Grammy Award Have Been Revealed

In this roller coaster of a year, at least we have had the joy of music to keep us going. While many bands have made the decision to hold off on releasing new music until touring can resume, which even by the most generous estimates may not be until fall 2021, loads of bands bit the bullet and released their newest material to give the waiting world something to tide them over.

Thus, the short list for the Grammy Awards had to have been a complicated one to pull together. Despite this, the official nominees, revealed last week, are a veritable who’s who of the heavy music world. Many of the acts here are enjoying their first nomination, with one act notching their second. Below are the nominees and their nominated songs, with all but one featuring from albums I have reviewed this year. Those reviews can be found linked below as well.

Body Count - “Bum-Rush” from the album Carnivore

Code Orange - “Underneath” from the album Underneath

In This Moment - “The In-Between” from the album Mother

Poppy - “BLOODMONEY” from the album I Disagree

Power Trip - “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe) [Live]” from the album Nightmare Logic

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, will air on CBS on January 31st, 2021.
