'Two Minutes to Late Night' Assembles A Sludge Pantheon for Cover of "Over the Mountain"

If there’s been one good thing to come out of this pandemic, as far as the music world is concerned, it’s that we’ve seen collaborations that may never have happened otherwise. Such has been the modus operandi for the most metal late night show out there, Two Minutes to Late Night, as Gwarsenio Hall and his esteemed guests have given us over two dozen offerings in their Bedroom Covers series.

We’ve previously covered the show’s takes on Rush’s “Anthem” and Misfits’ “Halloween II,” but this latest effort is taking things to new heights. For this track, a rendition of Ozzy Osbourne’s classic “Over the Mountain,” Hall has assembled Brann Dailor (Mastodon, Arcadia), Mike Schleibaum (Darkest Hour), Marvin Nygaard (Kvertalak), and Sebastian Thomson (Baroness, Trans Am). Dailor’s voice is perfect for paying homage to The Godfather of Heavy Metal, and the visual interpretation of Osbourne is a campy treat to behold. Add in a brief interlude tributing the OG metal song “Black Sabbath,” and this cover soars above the pack.

Whatever song gets the Two Minutes treatment next will have big shoes to fill, as this might be the best, most faithful cover in the series yet.
