Two Minutes to Late Night Assembles Prog Rock Legends for Cover of Rush's "Anthem"

Two Minutes to Late Night Rush Anthem

Metal-themed talk show Two Minutes to Late Night has developed something of a cult following with their YouTube show. During the pandemic, the show, hosted by Gwarsenio Hall, a dapper man in corpse paint, has released a series of super collaborations, featuring artists from multiple different bands covering rock and metal classics remotely, in a series called Bedroom Covers. From takes on White Zombie’s classic “Super Charger Heaven” to reimagining Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About” as a Guns N Roses song, these covers have hit the mark more often than not.

Their most recent assembly features a host of prog rock Avengers to take on the Rush song “Anthem.” This particular cover features Danny Carey of Tool, Bill Kelliher of Mastodon, Les Claypool of Primus, Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria, and Stephen Brodsky of Mutoid Man. So, you know, a veritable who’s who of the prog world. Even better is that all of the artists involved refused payment for this gathering, instead donating the proceeds to The Cancer Research Institute, no doubt a move inspired by the unfortunate passing of Rush drummer Neil Peart.
