Cult Leader Charles Manson Has Died At Age 83

The California Department of Corrections released a statement reading, “Inmate Charles Manson, 83, died of natural causes at 8:13 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at a Kern County hospital.” Manson was the notorious leader of the Manson Family cult that murdered actress Sharon Tate and six others in 1969. Tate was nearly full-term in her pregnancy.

On December 13, 1971, Manson received a first-degree murder conviction from Los Angeles County for the July 25, 1969, death of Gary Hinman and another first-degree murder conviction for the August 1969 death of Donald Shea. He spent 48 years in prison and was denied parole 12 times.

But that's enough about him. While I am certainly intrigued with the study of serial killers and their minds, I by no means regard them as heroes or people to be praised. Let's take this moment to remember the individuals who had their lives taken from them. They were sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, wives and husbands. These people had families that mourned their deaths at the hands of Manson and his family/cult.

The names of those who lost their lives:

Rosemary LaBianca

Leno LaBianca

Abigail Folger Wojciech Frykowski Gary Hinman

Sharon Tate Steven Parent Jay Sebring Donald Shea

Today I for mourn for those who lost their lives, not Charles Manson. I only hope that with his death that they find peace.
