Earlier this year we learned that Shane Black's new Predator film will take place in a suburban setting and that star Jake Busey will play the son of Gary's character from Predator 2, which will connect Black's film to the original series.
Jake Busey recently spoke with Pop Culture, in which he revealed more details on said connection as well as throwing a good teaser in for measure. Read on for the conversation.
“Jake said the new film is set after the second one,” the site reports. “Predator 2 was released in 1990, but took place in a 1997 Los Angeles ravaged by gang violence. The third movie, 2010’s Predators, took place on another world and wasn’t set in a specific year. So, The Predator will take place between those two movies.”
“This one definitely falls in line with the original franchise in that it does focus on the technology that the Predators have,” Busey himself told the site. “It focuses on what the goal of the Predators is, and what their modus operandi, and why they come to the planet, and that type of thing. It’s definitely in line with the original franchise.”
So it seems that the Predators may come to hunt for more than just sport?..
'The Predator' stars Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook, Edward James Olmos, Trevante Rhodes, Augusto Aguilera, Alfie Allen, and Yvonne Strahovski.
The film will release in theaters on August 3, 2018.
