New 'Annihilation' Trailer Looks Heavily Inspired By 'Aliens'

Frightening, atmospheric and beautiful...words that can be used to describe James Cameron's Aliens, but also words to describe this new trailer for Annihilation from Ex Machina director Alex Garland. The film looks to be heavily inspired by many sci-fi greats with a little bit of Jurassic Park and Avatar thrown in for good measure. That's just my opinion. One thing that we can definitely all agree on is that this film looks absolutely stunning! Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Synopsis:

Natalie Portman (V for Vendetta, Black Swan) plays a biologist who signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don’t apply. “[She] finds a very strange, dream-like, surrealist landscape, and goes deeper and deeper into that world, and also into that mindset,” Garland told EW when initially announced.

Based on Jeff VanderMeer’s best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy, Annihilation stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny and Oscar Isaac. It was written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later).

Paramount Pictures will release Annihilation in theaters on February 23rd, 2018.
