'The Dark Crystal' Is Returning To Theaters In February

Netflix is currently developing the new series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, an episodic prequel to the original film. While we wait for that, we will soon have the opportunity to see the 1982 classic on the big screen!

Fathom Events will be hosting screenings for two nights across the US. The screening will feature the new 4K restoration of the film as well as a brand-new introduction with Lisa Henson, CEO and President of The Jim Henson Company. She will reflect on the making of the one-of-a-kind film and the legacy of her father, Jim.

Tickets will go on sale January 12th and events will take place across the US on February 25th and 28th. Theaters will be revealed on January 12th.

Synopsis:

“From genius filmmaker Jim Henson comes the fantastical story of The Dark Crystal. Many years ago, the mysterious Dark Crystal was damaged and an age of chaos began, led by the evil race of grotesque birdlike lizards, the Skeksis, who rule with an iron claw. Meanwhile the Gelfling orphan Jen, raised in solitude by a race of peace-loving creatures called the Mystics, embarks on a quest to find the missing shard of the Dark Crystal and restore balance to the universe.”

After the two night theatrical run, The Dark Crystal will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 6th.
