Disney Now Owns The 'Alien' And 'Predator' Franchises

Yep, you read that correctly, The House of Mouse now owns 21st Century Fox. Which includes the Alien franchise, Predator, The X-Files, The Simpsons, and many other well-known properties.

Walt Disney Co. finalized a $52.4-billion deal to buy much of Rupert Murdoch’s entertainment empire, meaning Hollywood is now a land of fewer studio giants.

Via Variety:

“The acquisition of this stellar collection of businesses from 21st Century Fox reflects the increasing consumer demand for a rich diversity of entertainment experiences that are more compelling, accessible and convenient than ever before,” said [Bob] Iger. “We’re honored and grateful that Rupert Murdoch has entrusted us with the future of businesses he spent a lifetime building, and we’re excited about this extraordinary opportunity to significantly increase our portfolio of well-loved franchises and branded content to greatly enhance our growing direct-to-consumer offerings. The deal will also substantially expand our international reach, allowing us to offer world-class storytelling and innovative distribution platforms to more consumers in key markets around the world.”

I'm honestly not that worried with this news, Disney has done rather well with Marvel and Star Wars, in my opinion. I am, although, very curious what they can do with this new acquisition and the franchises that come along with it.
