The 2018 Sundance Film Festival has begun and Jonas Åkerlund‘s heavy metal horror Lords of Chaos will have it's US premier. I'm very much looking forward to this film as I'm a huge fan of the 1998 book of the same name by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind. I'm also a lover of black metal and the band Mayhem, of which this movie is based upon. Based on truth (and lies), Lords of Chaos is a dark drama about a precocious teenager, Euronymous, who wants to spread evil, chaos, and true Norwegian black metal. When Euronymous invites a mysterious loner, Varg, to join his “Black Circle,” a rivalry sparks, leading to unexpected consequences.
