Leigh Whannel's Upgrade is one of the most entertaining flicks of the year according to CryptTeaze's Sean Ellis, who reviewed the film, saying that it "thrills and satisfies audiences until the credits begin to roll." We’ve learned today that the brutal sci-fi/action film is being released digitally on August 14th and will arrive on DVD & Blu-ray on August 28th. Leigh Whannel provided a commentary track for this release.
"Upgrade is a thrilling and hyper violent vision of the future from the producers of Get Out and The Purge, and the creator of Saw and Insidious. After his wife is killed during a brutal mugging that also leaves him paralyzed, Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Prometheus) is approached by a billionaire inventor with an experimental cure that will "upgrade" his body. The cure–an Artificial Intelligence implant called STEM–gives Grey physical abilities beyond anything experienced, and the ability to relentlessly claim vengeance against those who murdered his wife and left him for dead."
The film also stars Betty Gabriel (Get Out, Purge: Election Year), Harrison Gilbertson (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Hounds of Love), Simon Maiden (The Dressmaker, Killer Elite) and Benedict Hardie (Hacksaw Ridge, The Light Between Two Oceans).
