Crypt TV Developing A Facebook Watch Series Based On Short Film 'The Birch'


Crypt TV, the digital genre network that aims to be ‘Marvel for Monsters,’ today announced it will produce long-form series, The Birch, based on their award-winning viral short film of the same name for Facebook Watch.

The Birch is centered around the dark relationship between a synonymous monster protector in the woods and a pure-hearted teenager who summons her in a time of crisis. The 15-episode series will be told from multiple character perspectives as their lives are indelibly shaped by The Birch.

The Birch won a Webby for Best Drama: Individual Short or Episode in 2017 and was featured at Tribeca Film Festival in 2017 as part of Tribeca N.O.W. Special Screenings.

Crypt TV launched primarily on Facebook and recently videos from all of their network pages crossed 1 Billion views. The original short film of The Birch from Crypt TV garnered more than 35 million views online.

Production for The Birch is slated for early 2019. Executive Producers from Crypt are Jack Davis, Kate Krantz, and Darren Brandl.
