We've been writing a lot about John Carpenter as of late. With the new Halloween arriving in theaters this week, his 1978 original film turning 40 years old, and rumors of a Prince of Darkness series for Shudder swirling the web, Carpenter is definitely back in the limelight.
Now, we have news that a reboot/sequel to his 1988 masterpiece, They Live is possible in the works! In a recent interview with Den of Geek, Carpenter teased:
“Well, I’m not gonna tell you about that, because it might be closer to reality than you think.”
He also revealed that a sequel to the film, starring the late Roddy Piper, had been written years ago but was never picked up.
“There was a feature film [sequel to They Live in pre-production]. It was a called Resistance, written by, oh, the guy who did the Apes movies. Matt Reeves. But then he moved on, and so the sequel is, well, we’ll see. We’ll just have to see.”
Here's to hoping that Carpenter reveals more on this project soon! We'd would absolutely love to see more cinematic greatness from the filmmaking maestro!
